Description: Both of these pieces of work that I have completed discusses the importance of cultural competency in the work place or the community. Cultural awareness is now critical to training in the workplace. The paper on diversity in the Chicana community provides insight on how there are unequal opportunities for minorities. The PowerPoint Presentation discusses the importance of cultural awareness in a public health emergency and informs the audience of Los Angeles County's diversity and need for culturally competent individuals in the public health workplace.

Reflection: Both of these pieces have taught me about my own community. As a Latina Los Angeles County resident, I learned about the lack of resources and health literacy in my community. These pieces have also motivated me to become aware of cultures that differ from mine. I remain open and respectful to all cultures. The powerpoint has informed me throughout my reresearch that there are many resources I can use to become more culturally competent. For example, books, people, social media, and more.
